What to Expect

SSPI Office Visits

First Visit:

On your first visit, you’ll meet the doctor to discuss your current health situation and to see if you’re a good candidate for chiropractic care.  If we find that chiropractic care can help you, we’ll conduct a thorough examination.  This helps us identify the likely cause(s) of your condition.

  • Physical, orthopedic and neurological exam
  • If the doctor assesses that X-rays are necessary, films will be taken that day in the office.

Second Visit:

You will sit down with the doctor for a brief informational session and recieve your Report of Findings.  We will tell you what we found, what we can do to help, how long it may take and how much it will cost. We’ll also review other courses of action and offer you choices.
  • Empowerment session
  • Report of findings
  • First spinal adjustment

Regular Visit:

Your care consists of a series of specific adjustments to add motion to spinal segments that are not moving correctly and restore nervous system integrity.  Retraining the spine takes time.  Each visit builds on the ones before.  Some patients see rapid progress and others find his/her recovery to be slower.  Subsequent visits may include electrical modalities, home exercises, soft tissue therapy, or other treatments the doctor feels necessary to your care.
  • Spinal adjustment(s)
  • Modality therapy(ies)

Insurance:

We participate with most insurance, though there may be cases where some procedures are not covered.  You will be responsible for any payment due that is not covered by your insurance. We recommend that you don't base your decision to get care or not, on an insurance company's coverage.  Your quality of life is your responsibility not that of your insurance company.  We have several low payment options available.

Everyone values his or her health differently.  If you lose something, it costs time and money to recover it.  That’s true whether you lose your keys or your health.  How much you’re willing to invest to recover your health is based upon how much you value your health.  Remember, your insurance company isn’t responsible for your health….you are!

Explanation of Services

Consultation:
The consultation takes place prior to the New Patient History Examination.  The doctor will discuss with the patient any current complaints and concerns.  The doctor will also give a brief explanation of Chiropractic and the care the patient will be receiving.

Chiropractic Examinations:
New Patient History Examination: The doctor will take a case history on the new patient, which involves questions regarding their past and present health complaints and concerns.  The doctor may perform various ranges of motion and a complete spinal examination.  Other tests will be utilized as deemed necessary.

Estimated Patient Re-examination/Re-evaluation:

Periodically, the doctor will perform an update on the patient’s condition.  This may include additional history, range of motion tests, and various examination tests to evaluate progress.

Chiropractic X-Ray Studies:

The doctor may order certain x-ray views to determine the cause of your condition and to recommend your future care.  Our policy is to take only what is absolutely necessary to evaluate your current condition.

Report of Findings:

The Report of Findings is a specific office visit at which the doctor reviews your individual health history, your primary concerns and complaints, and a detailed explanation of the x-ray views, if taken.  The doctor’s recommended care schedule is to help you regain and maintain optimal wellness.
This is a scheduled appointment, which generally lasts 45-55 minutes.  The purpose of this appointment is to raise your understanding of health and healing and is a mandatory part of your care plan.

Chiropractic Adjustment:
The Chiropractic Adjustment is the hands-on process necessary to correct (reduce) a subluxated vertebra, pelvic bone, or other joints by making a specific, predetermined correction within the spinal column and extremities.  This is a precise but delicate maneuver.  Dr. Luther has been trained to use a variety of techniques to elicit the most optimum results from the human body.

Cryo/Thermotherapy:

Ice or heat therapy is used to decrease inflammation and facilitate healing.

Modalities:

Electrical therapy and cold laser therapy are used to decrease inflammation, facilitate healing and build healthy tissues at the cellular level.

Surface EMG:
One of the most advanced and accurate ways of monitoring subluxation is with a Surface EMG scan.  This scan lets you see the actual levels of surface electricity – subluxations change surface electricity.

Orthotics:
Orthotics are inserted into your shoes to help support your feet, a critical component to a properly functioning kinetic chain.  Sometimes the doctor will recommend a supportive structure in your shoes to create an essential foundation to better hold your adjustments.
